Where it all began at Four Trimesters - decades ago
Nearly two decades ago, I began to pioneer the art and practice of placenta encapsulation in Singapore, inspired by my doula clients seeking natural postpartum recovery options. While rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the practice gained global attention as Western cultures embraced Eastern wellness philosophies. However, reliable services were unavailable locally, leaving many hesitant to entrust their placentas to TCM medical halls due to concerns over integrity and transparency.
A pivotal moment came when a client’s husband shared his stressful attempt to encapsulate his wife’s placenta himself. Realizing the need for a professional, trustworthy service, I decided to step up. With guidance from Jenny West, author and expert on placenta encapsulation, I mastered the process and encapsulated my first placenta for Dr. Mythili, a respected advocate for breastfeeding and maternal health.
What began as a necessity for my doula clients has grown into Four Trimesters—a trusted name in placenta encapsulation in Singapore. Over the years, we’ve supported thousands of mothers, blending ancient traditions with modern safety standards.

In the group whatsapp group chat set up, we would have given you specific information you need to provide us upon baby’s delivery. We will contact you between 9am to 9pm to arrange for collection of the placenta.

Yes, we handle both the collection and delivery of the placenta in-house (Unlike most other companies we do NOT use Grab Express/Lalamove or third party courier services).
Collection is available between 9 AM and 9 PM, and we will notify you of the estimated collection time. Once the placenta pills are prepared, we will coordinate with you for delivery, also between 9 AM and 9 PM.

If you deliver late at night, please store the placenta in a refrigerator OR a cooler bag (dimensions: 13cm x 23cm x 15cm) with an ice brick to keep it fresh.
You also have the option of renting an ice box with frozen ice packs at an additional cost. Please arrange for your own collection between 9am-9pm for rental of ice box with frozen ice packs.
We will arrange for collection the following day between 9 AM and 9 PM and notify you of the estimated collection time. This ensures that the placenta is safely stored until we can pick it up.

We process one placenta at a time to ensure the utmost care and attention.
The processing will take 24-48 hours from the time we begin.
Throughout the process, we will document everything with photos and share them with you via WhatsApp in the group chat setup for your placenta encapsulation.

As we do not add any preservatives to the placenta encapsulation process, it is recommended that you refrigerate the placenta pills for up to 6 months.
If you choose to store it beyond 6 months, it is recommended that you freeze it in an airtight container.

As the placenta varies in size, her are some approximations below:
300-399g: 65-100 pills
400-499g: 90-130 pills
500g- 599g: 105-190 pills
600-699g: 130 -200 pills
700-899g: 150-206 pills

Recommendation for dosage will be clearly labelled on the bottle when received.
We recommend following this dosage:
- Days 1-3: 2 capsules 3 times a day
- Days 4-14: 2 capsules 2 times a day- Day 15 onwards: 2 capsules a day
Whenever you are feeling postpartum blues setting in or needing a boost in breastmilk supply, you can increase your dosage accordingly.
You can consume your encapsulated placenta at any time, with or without food. There are no preservatives in your placenta.

SPECIAL NOTE: When selecting a provider for placenta encapsulation, please ensure your placenta is steamed and NOT boiled preserving all the goodness and nutrients. Boiling can eliminate alot of the goodness that exists in the placenta. Thermomix ensures this will never happen to your Placenta.

We take the utmost care in processing your placenta and document (with photo’s to your WhatsApp group chat EVERY step of the way.
Procedure
1. We prepare your Placenta
Clean: Rinse the placenta thoroughly under running water to remove any blood clots.
Trim: Remove the umbilical cord and membranes (The umbilical cord is cleaned, processed and dehydrated - kept for your keep-sake but is not for consumption).
Weigh: We weigh the placenta and send you an update and image.
Slice: Cut the placenta into small, uniform pieces to ensure even steaming and consistency throughout.
2. Steam your placenta
The placenta is then steamed to ensure all bacteria is removed and allowing for safe consumption (NOT BOILED which can be detrimental to the

5. Tested for doneness and consistency
The placenta is properly steamed when it is cooked through, with a firmer texture and darker colour, ensure all pieces are evenly steamed for safety and quality.
6. Dehydration
All of the placenta pieces are then allowed to cool to room temperature.
Each piece is delicately laid out on the stainless steel trays of the dehydrator, set to very low temperature (71 Degrees Celsius) for approximately 24 hours.
7. Cleaning and Sanitisation
All equipment is then thoroughly cleaned and sanitised ensuring every step is free of contamination.
8. Ground and encapsulated
Ultizing the thermomix, the placenta pieces are ground to a fine powder ready for encapsulation.
A capsule filling machine is an apparatus then used to encapsulate your placenta. Using non-gelatin vegetarian capsules (given the humidity in Singapore and for hygiene purposes), we encapsulate your placenta pills. (Based on the weight of your placenta will determine the yield of pills we are able to create for you).
2. Prepare for delivery
Once bottled and labelled for you we will arrange a convenient time for your placenta pills to be delivered. We do not use third-party couriers such as GRAB to ensure safety off your precious pills. We personally deliver them to you.
