Our recommendation

For most parents, group antenatal classes provide the strongest foundation — offering comprehensive preparation, shared learning, and a clear framework for navigating birth. Private antenatal sessions are best as a supplement or for parents with specific needs.

Private sessions

Personalised 1:1 sessions for specific concerns, complex circumstances, or tighter schedules — with tailored guidance and real-time discussion.

Private sessions are limited and offered selectively.

Who this is for — and who it's not

This class is for you if

  • You want to feel prepared, not overwhelmed
  • You want to understand why things happen in labour — not just what to do
  • You value evidence, experience, and real-life application
  • You want practical tools for birth, regardless of how it unfolds
  • You want preparation that supports breastfeeding and early postpartum too

This may not be the right fit if

  • You're looking for a one-day or half-day course — each class runs 10am–6pm and requires genuine commitment from both partners
  • You want a rigid birth plan checklist
  • You prefer a fully self-paced, screen-only experience. If so, we also offer our antenatal program online.

What comes after antenatal classes

Antenatal classes are a beginning, not a box to tick. Many families find the series is everything they need — and come back simply to stay in the community. Others choose to continue with one or more of the following:

Birth Support (Doula Care)

Continuity of care from pregnancy through birth and early postpartum. Ginny as your doula means the same person who taught your class is with you in the room.

fourtrimesters.com/birth-support →

Breastfeeding Support

Hands-on guidance once your baby arrives. In-home or hospital. Support that continues through a personalised WhatsApp group — not a hi-bye visit.

fourtrimesters.com/breastfeeding-support →

Open Clinic

For shorter, targeted questions after class — or in the weeks before your due date. Half-hour to two-hour slots, in-person at Kai Singapore or via Zoom. From $98.

Talk to Ginny on WhatsApp to book →

These are optional, and discussed separately. There is no pressure to decide now.

Who teaches this

Taught by someone who was at a birth last month.

Ginny Phang-Davey has supported births in Singapore across every setting — hospital, homebirth, VBAC, waterbirth, caesarean, twin, and breech — for over two decades. She is a Certified Childbirth Educator, a birth and postpartum doula trainer, founder and creator of Optimal Maternal Positioning™.

She teaches from what she has seen — not from a curriculum written somewhere else, taught to someone else's birth system. What you learn in this class comes from being in the room.

She also knows Singapore's system from the inside: which hospitals support which birth choices, how to navigate conversations with your OB, what to expect from different labour ward teams, and how to hold your ground when circumstances change.

This is not a classroom course about birth. It is preparation for the actual birth you are going to have, in the country where you are having it.

What the series covers

Two standalone classes. One complete foundation.

Our antenatal program is now two standalone full-day classes. Take them individually — or take both for complete preparation from pregnancy through the fourth trimester.

Antenatal Class — Pregnancy and Birth Preparation
01

Class 1 · Four Trimesters Antenatal Class

Antenatal Class — Pregnancy & Birth Preparation

This full-day class covers the complete mental, emotional, and physical preparation for labour and birth. Birth runs on oxytocin — and oxytocin requires safety, trust, and the right conditions. This class teaches you how to create those conditions, and how to work with your body from first contraction to birth.

  • Understanding the function of pain in labour — and how to work with it
  • How fear, expectations, and emotions shape the physiology of labour and birth
  • Core breathing principles for regulation, stamina, and focus
  • Optimal Maternal Positioning™ as a daily pregnancy practice — creating space, supporting pelvic alignment, and preparing your body for birth
  • Birth planning, labour patterns, and recognising signs of progression
  • Working with contractions using movement, positioning, and breath
  • Making grounded decisions when circumstances change
  • Navigating labour across different birth settings and scenarios

Our recommendation

Take both.

Class 1 prepares you for birth. Class 2 prepares you for everything that follows.

Birth is the marathon. The fourth trimester is the ultra-marathon. You want to cross the finish line of birth in your best possible form — because what comes next requires even more of you.

Both days include morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea catered by Kai Singapore — nourishing, carefully prepared food from the team behind Singapore's most sought-after confinement menu.

The Fourth Trimester Class
02

Class 2

The Fourth Trimester Class

Breastfeeding and postpartum adjustment are not separate from birth preparation — they are a continuation of it. This full-day class shifts focus beyond birth, supporting the transition into early parenthood, recovery, and feeding your baby with confidence.

  • Getting breastfeeding started well from the first hours after birth
  • Common early challenges and how to troubleshoot them before they escalate
  • Understanding newborn behaviour and feeding cues
  • Physical and emotional recovery after birth
  • What the fourth trimester really asks of families — and how to prepare for it realistically

Birth is a shared experience. Like a partner dance, it requires attunement, trust, and presence — with the birthing mother at the centre, supported every step of the way. These classes prepare both of you.
