Antenatal classes that prepare you for real birth — not just information.

Mental, emotional, and physical preparation — delivered in person, with clarity and care.

Birth is not something to “get through.”
It is something to prepare for — thoughtfully, practically, and realistically.

Our antenatal classes are the foundation of the Four Trimesters approach.
They are designed to help you understand your body, your choices, and how birth actually unfolds — so you can move through labour with confidence, adaptability, and calm.

This is where most parents start.

Who this is for — and who it’s not

This class is for you if:

  1. You want to feel prepared, not overwhelmed

  2. You want to understand why things happen in labour, not just what to do

  3. You want practical tools for birth — regardless of how it unfolds

  4. You value evidence, experience, and real-life application

  5. You want preparation that supports breastfeeding and early postpartum too

This class may not be the best fit if:

  1. You’re looking for a one-off, purely informational lecture

  2. You want a checklist or rigid birth plan template

  3. You prefer a fully self-paced, screen-based experience only

Why we recommend starting with group classes

For most parents, group antenatal classes provide the strongest foundation.
They offer:

  1. Structured, progressive learning across pregnancy

  2. Shared reflection and normalisation

  3. A comprehensive framework that private sessions can build upon

  4. The best balance of depth, clarity, and value

Private sessions work best as supplementary or follow-up support, not as a replacement for a full antenatal foundation.

What the antenatal class series covers

Our antenatal program is delivered across three in-person sessions, thoughtfully structured so information builds — without overload.
This is holistic preparation, not a checklist.

Session 1: Mental, Emotional & Physical Preparation for Childbirth
This session is about establishing the pregnancy routine that supports birth — not preparing for labour day alone.
Birth preparation begins long before labour starts.

Just as you wouldn’t run a marathon without training, this session focuses on conditioning the mind, emotions, and body through daily, sustainable practices that support a calmer, more efficient birth.

We explore how pregnancy itself becomes the training ground for labour.

In this session, we cover:

  1. Understanding the function of pain during labour and how to work with it

  2. How fear, expectations, and emotions shape the physiology of pregnancy, labour, and birth

  3. Core breathing principles for regulation, stamina, and focus

  4. Using Optimal Maternal Positioning™ as part of your pregnancy routine — to create space, support pelvic alignment, improve daily comfort, and maximise space within the pelvis for birth.

Session 2: Birth Planning, Labour & Birth
This session focuses on applying your preparation — translating what you’ve built in pregnancy into informed, grounded decision-making during labour and birth.

Rather than creating a rigid plan, we work on developing clarity, adaptability, and communication — so you can navigate labour with confidence, even when circumstances change.

We explore how labour unfolds, how to recognise progress, and how to work with your body moment by moment.

In this session, we cover:

  1. How to think through birth preferences and communicate them clearly

  2. Understanding labour patterns and recognising signs of progression

  3. Working with contractions using movement, positioning, and breath

  4. Making informed, grounded decisions when circumstances change

  5. Supporting labour across different birth settings and scenarioswithin the pelvis for birth

Session 3: Breastfeeding & The Fourth Trimester
This session shifts the focus beyond birth — supporting the transition into early parenthood, recovery, and feeding your baby with confidence.

Breastfeeding and postpartum adjustment are not separate from birth preparation.
They are a continuation of it.
This session helps you understand what to expect after birth, how to recognise what’s normal, and how to establish strong foundations in the early weeks.

In this session, we cover:

  1. Getting breastfeeding started well from the first hours after birth

  2. Common early challenges and how to troubleshoot them

  3. Understanding newborn behaviour and feeding patterns

  4. Physical and emotional recovery after birth

  5. What the fourth trimester is — and how to prepare for it realistically

This antenatal series prepares both you and your birth partner — supporting a calmer, more comfortable pregnancy, and guiding you through birth, feeding, and the early weeks that follow.
Birth is a shared experience. Like a partner dance, it requires attunement, trust, and presence — with the birthing mother at the centre, supported every step of the way.
