Rebozo is a shawl used in the Central American tradition with many purposes, and it is a vital companion of a woman during her whole life. In Mexico, a person’s journey with Rebozo starts as early as in the womb, as the mother uses is to cover herself, to support the belly and for massage purposes.

Usage of Rebozo

As belly support during pregnancy. Tie it around the waist to support the beautiful growing pregnant belly.

As a shawl in colder climate. Rebozo is made of 100% cotton and can be worn around the shoulders to keep the wearer warm.

As a massage tool. Traditionally, Rebozo is used to massage a woman’s body by moving it rhythmically during pregnancy, in birth and during the postpartum period. It works to ease muscle and joint pains. Your doula and/or birth worker can show you how to incorporate Rebozo into massage techniques.

As a baby carrier. Women in Central America uses Rebozo for baby-wearing and have been doing this for hundreds of years!

As a nursing cover. Rebozo’s size and versatility means that a woman can also use it as a nursing cover if they wish to.

How to take care of your Rebozo

It can be washed both by hand or in the washing machine.

Washing instruction

Preferably 40 Celsius Degrees

Soft program (or hand wash)

Mild Soap or vinegar (depending of the use)

Dry in shade

Tie the fringes together to avoid tangling (Or use a sock to protect them)

No bleach

Preferably no tumble dry
